Chiropractic is a science originally founded on the "tone" of the body. Tone can be defined as the state of a living body or of any of its organs or parts in which the functions are healthy and performed with due vigor or normal tension or responsiveness to stimuli. We know that every physical, chemical or emotional stimulus is processed and stored by the nervous system, which can sometimes create tension that results in neurological disconnect between the brain and the other structures of the body that the brain controls. {bones, muscles, organs, glands, etc.}

The brain, spinal cord, and nerve roots are housed in the bones of the skull and spinal column (vertebrae) for protection and most neurological disconnect occurs at or near the skull and spine, which is why spinal health can affect the health of the WHOLE person. The decline of one's spinal structure happens over the years as little subtle movements create tension throughout the system, making it more static (more stuck), less dynamic (less fluid and movable), less aware (disconnected), and less coherent (dis-harmonious). It doesn't have to be this way! Your were built to live 100+ years without breakdown and degeneration if you treat your body right! It's never too late or too early to start!

Almost every patient can benefit from a GI-MAP™ gut health assessment. Some patients are looking to achieve optimal health, while other patients have been chronically ill and frustrated without a diagnosis for years. Overwhelmingly, research indicates that gut health impacts overall health. The gut microbiome, in particular, plays a critical role in digestion and nutrient absorption. It also affects mood, sleep, hormones, immune function, and overall systemic wellness. Assessing GI health with the proper tools can help practitioners get to the root cause of chronic illness.

Dr. Samantha Marie Brooks is a rare Atlanta native, born and bred just outside the metro area and living and working “ITP” since 2015. The opportunity to work in the field of chiropractic came after many years of medical administration and clinical work in the fields of pediatrics and orthopedics. Soon after beginning a professional career as an advocate for chiropractic care, there was an immediate calling to further her education to serve more people in the health arena. She obtained her certification for Holistic Health Coaching from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, working for multiple chiropractors and a naturopath to support their clients through nutrition and health coaching. With the desire to expand her clinical horizons, she then pursued her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University.

During her doctorate program, Dr. Brooks was awarded multiple scholarships. She obtained her Level 1 & 2 certification for Network Spinal Analysis and began certification for the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (learn more here) and became Webster Certified, a post-doctoral program which gives chiropractors more analysis and adjusting tools to serve pregnant women and children of all ages. She is also a Trained BIRTHFIT Professional (learn more here). In August 2015, she took on the role of the Business Director for Atlanta Birth Center, a non-profit organization that serves women before, during, and after the childbearing years. With the dedication of herself, the Executive Director, Anjli HInman, CNM, and an amazing grassroots community, a project 6-years in the making finally came to fruition in July 2016. She graduated summa cum laud in early 2016 and was given awards for her work on the Research Track, Philosophy of Human Existence and Healthcare Policy, and the rare Chiropractic Philosophy distinction. Dr. Brooks is delighted to continue to serve the Atlanta community through her work as the Business Director of Atlanta Birth Center and in her own chiropractic practice in a beautiful row house of Baltimore Block, named The Brainery.

Dr. Kayla, a proud product of a military upbringing, began her life’s journey in Fort Stewart, Georgia. This journey unfolded across continents, with stops in Butzbach, Germany, followed by a decade-long sojourn at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. The Willoughby family eventually settled in the vibrant Tampa Bay area in 2009, marking the culmination of her father’s distinguished career at MacDill Airforce Base. Her passion for health and wellness took root early on, sparked during a poignant visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Engaging with soldiers who had returned from war, one particular connection left an indelible mark. A young soldier, over shared breakfasts, revealed the intricacies of his prosthetics and the arduous journey of learning to walk anew. Dr. Kayla, deeply moved, developed a profound interest in the body’s innate healing capabilities. Embarking on her own path, Dr. Kayla joined the Army Reserves in 2011 as an Occupational Therapy Assistant after graduating high school. Dedicated to aiding soldiers in preserving their independence and meaningful engagement in daily activities, she concurrently pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at the University of South Florida. Her military service provided a unique vantage point, fostering a holistic understanding of health and well-being. Upon graduation, a period of introspection led Dr. Kayla to recognize her true calling—nurturing her love for caring for people. This realization propelled her towards Chiropractic and its holistic philosophy. Enrolling at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida, Dr. Kayla’s commitment to the field was evident through her active involvement in student council, leadership in the Gonstead club, and enthusiastic participation in campus events. Beyond academic pursuits, Dr. Kayla immersed herself in continuous learning, attending seminars that expanded her knowledge of chiropractic care. Her fervent dedication extended to specialized training in pediatric and pregnancy-related chiropractic care, earning her Webster certification for maternal and infant well-being.
